Highly refined molybdenum chemicals are hydrogen reduced to molybdenum powder, having a purity of 99.9% minimum. The powder is isostatically pressed and sintered into rods of a uniform fine grained structure. The rods are then drawn down to the required size.

Moly rod / wire drawing is accomplished by coating with a graphite lubricant, heating to a red heat, and then drawing through tungsten carbide or diamond dies. The process is some times referred to as hot cold working, which means that, while the wire is still hot the temperature is still below the recrytsalization range accordingly as the crossectional area is reduced, strength and ductility are increased.

Molybdenum wire is available from 0.25mm to 3mm
